Simply festive

1 Dec, 2016

All too often, the holiday season seems more like a marathon than a peaceful sleigh ride. But how can you organize a joyous reunion without the stress that comes with it – and without ruining your fun? With a simple formula, a little imagination and, of course, Boursin!

This year, say goodbye to the headaches and long hours by the oven! We asked bloggers to create a friendly and resolutely stress-free reception to turn the usual race against the clock into a source of pleasure. In short, it’s a small party that you get to enjoy, too.

To get them on the right track, we also suggested four easy recipes, developed in collaboration with Châtelaine magazine.

Boursin® Cranberry & Pepper figs with pepita brittle
Lemony mushroom crostini with Boursin® Shallot & Chive
Potatoes stuffed with Boursin® Red Chili Pepper
Smoked salmon canapés with Boursin® Cracked Black Pepper

BRUNCH AND BEYOND

For Diala, nothing beats the brunch for getting people together. At this time of day, there’s no place for excessive refinement. You can extend the meal without worrying about the time and can easily follow it up with an activity outdoors. “Brunch is something I feel passionate about,” admits Diala. “The main reason is that sharing food with people that are dear to you is an experience that makes your soul grow with gratefulness.”

Her little secret:

She derives inspiration from canapé recipes for her dishes. For example, she plans on using the crostini topping to make a meal with eggs and avocados.

Her favourite:

Potatoes stuffed with Boursin® Red Chili Pepper

Her practical tip:

A nice tablecloth and a few flowers are enough to set the mood.

THE MAGIC OF THE APERITIF

“One of my favourite ways to entertain is to invite friends and family over for drinks and appetizers, as opposed to a full dinner party,” says Jo-Anna Rooney. This much simpler formula promotes conversation, since guests can walk around and talk to each other. Of course, everyone always ends up near the buffet, where the appetizers steal the show. “They may look fancy, but they’re very easy to assemble!”

Her little secret:

The key to a successful party is to keep the food simple, yet delicious.

Her practical tip:

To catch the holiday spirit, simply dress an appetizer table with white faux fur, some twinkly lights and simple greenery.
